Easton's Eyes.

Yesterday taylor was looking at Easton and said "Hey, have you ever noticed that Easton has one pupil that is bigger than the other one?"
"No... I havent ever noticed"

and I mean, its not really that noticeable... is it?

But as the day progressed Taylor started doing some online searches (often a bad idea as new parents) and he noted that oddly-dilated pupils can be sign of something serious. and it needed to be looked at closer.

We called healthlink and they suggested that we see a doctor within 1 to 3 days. it was 10pm...

So naturally we headed to the Red Deer hospital. (Im a mom... sue me)

after several hours we got in and had the emerg doctor tell us that he was able to rule out anything serious like a brain tumour (sometimes oddly dilated pupils can indicate this) but he recommended that we go to an eye doctor as soon as possible to rule out anything else.

So today we went in for Easton's first eye check up.

The doctor did a thorough exam on Easton's dilated pupil and concluded that everything looked normal, but we needed to do a "dilated eye examination" to make sure that it was really nothing to be concerned about. The doctor would put drops into his eyes that would make them dilate for 24 hours - after 10 minutes the doctor would check to make sure they were dilating properly.

The test was sad for Easton - the drops they put into his eyes stung and made him cry... BUT...

He did come out with some cool new shades...

Dilated eyes are very sensitive to light.

and man do they look freaky...

But through all of these drops and hospital visits, Easton is still a happy healthy 10 pound 8 ounce baby boy who loves baths and smiling at his mommy :)

Tomorrow we go home
and get to go to a baby shower!!
